New Zealand Association of Scientists are calling for papers for a special issue on the research system crisis.
Following the current special issue focusing on the crisis in our universities, the next special issue for the New Zealand Science Review will focus on the wider research system. Funding cuts are leading to widespread job losses and concerns about generational damage to the research and science system. We are calling for papers discussing this issue, to be published in 2024/early 2025.
The New Zealand Science Review is the journal of record for science policy and the science system. The people running it are dedicated, professional, and generally awesome. The journal is completely open access. See details about the special issue at the link below.

Any idea if they'd be interested in a researcher cost analysis for the most recent Marsden Fund results, along the lines of this? It would involve me mostly me crunching numbers without much additional context or citations, but perhaps other people could add their own perspective...?
My general argument is that even for the Marsden Fund, the reward is so low that it doesn't make financial sense for researchers to apply (beyond its function as a biased gamble / lottery).

I would send an email to editor@scientists.org.nz with you idea and see what they think.
