The Tertiary Education Commission says the Developers Institute was over-funded in several instances since 2021 and has decided to end funding immediately

Given the current crises across the tertiary education sector, much of which appears to be directly due to decisions taken by the TEC, one might wonder what exactly the purpose of the TEC is.

Students were powerless in the decision to shut down the Developers Institute, but are expected to bear responsibility for the effects? Where is the fairness?

McMahon says it's the students’ responsibility to select and contact the alternate provider. “Students should talk to providers to make their own choice about which programme will best suit their individual needs.” The students were given three weeks by Studylink to find a new provider before their student benefits were cut off.
