News article: Education funding shortfall a ‘long-term collective failure’
The report, commissioned by NZEI Te Riu Roa, PPTA Te Wehengarua and Tertiary Education Union looking at education spending at all levels and tertiary compared to other OECD countries. It found funding per student in New Zealand is 27.8% lower than Canada, 22.4% lower than Australia, 26.4% lower than the UK and 24.9% lower than the OECD average.
This is a country that has been under investing in public goods and instead favoring the wealthy for decades. We are clearly better at that than other countries doing the same thing. By no means is this considered a flex by any other than the hard core neoliberal true believers.
