Website: Navigating Progress: A Timeline of Science Policy in Aotearoa

This the part of work of Brittany Bennenbroek did that was the subject of a recent post. It deserves a separate post. This is the first that I have seen that pulls together the major pieces of science policy from the late 80's (the last time major reform was undertaken) to present. It is clearly written, visually appealing, and just plain well done.

I recommend checking this out to anyone interested in getting a broad understanding of the public research system here in Aotearoa New Zealand over time.

    • Last week, I received an email from a member of Te Ara Paerangi Community about this post. That member pointed out that there have been major reforms with some regularity since the 1980s (beyond what I had recognised), and that the timeline website did not quite capture them all. This is not to slight the work that Brittany has done in any way, but rather to say that it could be improved by filling in some more details. Further to that, they included a pdf of the report linked to below.

I really appreciate the member writing to me with this additional information so that it could be shared with everyone. ‍
